Two Packing Tips That Make Your Move Easier

If you are going to be moving to a new home in the near future, you have the tedious task of packing up your belongings ahead of you. When packing, there are a few tips that can make your life a lot easier when you bring your items to your new home.

Here are two useful packing tips that will help you save time when placing your belongings in their new abode:

Clothing

If you have a full closet of clothes, it could take hours to remove each article from the hanger, fold it up and place it in a store bin. The easiest way to pack up the clothes hanging inside your closet is to pack them without taking them off the hangers at all.

Get a large garbage bag and place it underneath a large section of the clothes in your closet. Shimmy the clothing into the bag from the bottom. Slide it over the clothing and remove the hangers from the rail.

Use a large rubber band to fasten the top of the garbage bag around the tops of the hangers so you can easily carry the bag of clothing without anything slipping out. When you get to your new place, simply remove the rubber band, hang the chunk of hangers and slide the bag off the clothing. Your items will hang in the same order that they had in your old closet.

Electronics

When packing electronics, it is easy to get overwhelmed with the amount of wires you will need to keep with each item. To make sure nothing gets lost or mixed up in the move, loop wires and use a garbage tie to keep them from getting tangled.

Put wires and other small pieces of hardware inside a plastic storage bag and label it with the appropriate matching electronic item so if it gets separated during the move, you will know which item it belongs to. Affix the bag to the item with tape.

Another good idea is to take a picture of the electronic item when it is still hooked up to the wires. This will make things easier when you try to put it back together at your new home. Some electronics, such as television hookups can have several different wires in different colors. This will take out all of the guesswork in getting it hooked up correctly, saving you a lot of aggravation in the process.
